There’s something truly magical about water. Whether it’s a small, peaceful pond, or a waterfall that catches the brilliance of the sunlight, water features are a wonderful, magical addition to any garden or landscaping project. And as the best landscapers and gardeners can tell you, the key to creating a really special water feature is designing it so people see only the beauty, not the effort behind it. And in the case of water features, the primary “effort” behind it is the behind the scene action (or more accurately under the water action) of the pumps.
Whether you are planning creating a fountain, waterfall, stream, pond, statuary or other water feature, it’s important to choose the right pump. Because there are so many brands of pond pumps out there, unfortunately we can’t focus on all of them. But we can take a look at the various types of Pondmaster pumps, and detail what type of pond application each is ideal for.
Magnetic Drive Utility Pumps: Made to run continuously, these Pondmaster pumps are designed like the larger utility pumps mentioned below, but are scaled down to be ideal for table top fountains.
Magnetic Drive Utility Pump MD2: The same design as the magnetic drive utility pumps mentioned above, but designed for small and medium garden fountains, piped statuary and ponds.
Pondmaster Larger Utility Pumps: When you need your pump to run continuously, these pumps are ideal, and are designed specifically for larger fountains, piped statuary and ponds.
Pondmaster External Pumps: These pumps are designed for moderate to high volume pumping for ponds and waterfalls. They are external, however, so you’ll need to decide if that fits with the look you are trying to create.
Submersible Pump for Waterfalls and Skimmers: These pumps are used to drive medium and large in-pond skimmers, as well as to create larger waterfalls.
Pro XP Hy-Drive Pumps: Designed for the largest pond applications, these Pondmaster pumps can be used externally or underwater.
5000 Magnetic Drive Utility Pump: These Pondmaster pumps are ideal for pond applications where high volumes of water are being used – waterfalls, large water features such as skimmers, garden and koi ponds, and fountains.
